I am a native North Carolinian, born in Winston-Salem in 1976. After graduating summa cum laude from High Point University, I worked in the banking and mental health fields.

Deciding to pursue my passion, I began to study history with the goal of becoming a history professor. I have just completed a M.A. in history at North Carolina State University, where I was inducted into Phi Alpha Theta. My master's thesis examined the impact of the British monarchy (and its resultant social hierarchy) on British Colonial North America.

I will enter the Ph.D. program in United States history at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the fall of 2006.
