Escola Politecnica do Rio de Janeiro is the original name of the School of Engineering at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Established in 1810 as "Escola de Engenharia" (Engineering School), the "Escola Politecnica do Rio de Janeiro" became part of the "University of Rio de Janeiro"(Universidade do Rio de Janeiro) in 1920, later renamed as "University of Brazil" (Universidade do Brasil) in 1937 and finally reorganized as "Federal University of Rio de Janeiro" (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) in 1965.
