Metwain Pierce - born in the early 14th century (circa 1420 - exact date unknown), Pierce was of Polish decent and was a born into poverty. Though he rose to some level of recognition though his work as a poet and music composer, his thinking was substantially advanced beyond what was generally accepted in his erea, and in a time when many artistic workers and thinker were patroned by religious institutions, he went largely unnoticed. It is believed that, similarly to Van Gogh, much of his work was lost after his death in circa 1460 from suspected suicide. Pierce's poetry has frequently been lauded as a more artistic and elegant representation of much of Søren Kierkegaard's philosophy.
