The book is a collection of stories featuring dogs adopted in their later years. The accounts of people involved in the senior-dog-rescue movement include a group of older nuns; Hollywood actor and filmmaker George Clooney; former Nordstrom Chairman Bruce A. Nordstrom and his wife, Jeannie; U.S. military veterans; law-enforcement officers; photographers; schoolteachers, and many others. Also featured is Bretagne, the last known surviving search dog who worked at Ground Zero following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
