Lightning Hutch is a 1926 adventure film serial directed by Charles Hutchison. It was Hutchison's last serial and the only one to survive in complete form. His wife, Edith Thornton, played the female lead. Hutch had not made a serial since 1922's Speed, and this was to be his comeback vehicle, but Arrow Film Company went into bankruptcy proceedings just as the film was released. Distribution was spotty and the film was not a success. It was re-edited into a six-reel feature with added music and sound effects and released in 1930 by Cosmos Pictures.
The story concerned a formula for a powerful new poison gas, Thornite, which is sought by a foriegn spy, Boris Kosloff (Sheldon Lewis). In the process of stealing the formula, Kosloff also abducts Diana Winters(Edsith Thorntnon); Former Secret Service agent Lightning Hutch must retrieve the formula and rescue Diana.[1]
