School Introduction
editThe Leman International School - Chengdu is the newest member of The Meritas Family of Schools[1]. Located in Chengdu, China[2] the school opens on September 7, 2009 serving students in grades JK-5. At least one new grade will be added each year as the school grows to serve 1,000 students in grades JK-12.

The Léman International School uses the International Primary Curriculum (IPC)[3] as its core curriculum. Specially designed for use in international schools, it is currently being employed in more than 800 schools in over 50 countries. The IPC blends American and European modalities — accommodating both Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program — with 80 content-rich units that teachers can customize to fit individualized lesson plans. Chinese language instruction and a broad range of activities and specials classes including arts, music, and athletics complement the curriculum.

editThe Léman International School is located in the midst of lush fields and gardens at the foot of Chengdu’s hills. The 50-acre campus features structurally sound new construction that meets or exceeds all safety codes.

editModern, technology-enhanced classrooms and science and computer labs are complemented by a media center, libraries, and generous amenities such as performance space, gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, sports fields and tracks, and tennis courts.
The Léman International School brings to Chengdu a large, modern state-of-the-art facility, a global curriculum, and a very experienced faculty and administrative team. Headmaster Richard Mast previously served as the Headmaster of the International School Stockholm. Most teachers have master’s degrees and years of experience in international schools from around the world.
