The 2014 IFMAR 1:8 Off-Road World Championship was the 15th edition of the IFMAR 1:8 Off-Road World Championship for 1:8 scale off-road nitro powered radio controlled buggies sanctioned by the International Federation of Model Auto Racing (IFMAR) to be run over nine days on 18th through 27th September with 162 driver from 34 countries taking part.
The national sanctioning body, the Auto Model Sport Club Italiano (AMSCI) acted as a host nation on behalf of the host bloc, the European Federation of Radio Operated Model Automobiles (EFRA), with Messina World acting as the host organization for the championship.
The event took place at the Naxos World Track in Giardini Naxos in the Province of Messina, the second time the province has held the world championship event, the previous being the 2005 IFMAR 1:8 On-Road World Championship.
Mugen Seiki's Robert Batlle of Spain was the defending champion. The race was won by Hot Bodies's Ty Tessmann of Canada, a Top Qualifier, who after botching his start, he recovered in time to finish two laps ahead of the pack on his way to becoming the first Canadian to win the world championship.

editAt EFRA's annual general meeting in 2010, taking place in Holiday Inn Brussels, Belgium; six clubs all over Europe put themselves forward to become the host, they were:
- MSV Wölbling in Wölbling, Austria
- MSV Wölbling had previously played host to the EFRA 1:8 IC Off-Road European Championship in 2009
- Rhein Main Circuit in Bischofsheim, Hesse, Germany
- Reims Enduro Model Car in, Reims, France
- Reims had previously played host to the EFRA 1:8 IC Off-Road European Championship in 2013
- Clube de Radiomodelismo de Freixedas in Pinhel, Portugal
- Club de Automodelismo RC de Orihuela Complejo Deportivo Municipal de El Palmeral in Orihuela, Spain
- Naxos World Track in Giardini Naxos in Italy.[1]
The Naxos World Track was selected at an AGM in 2012.[2]

editDespite being the Top Qualifier, the A-Semis winner Tessmann started behind the B-Semis winner Maifield, who finished with a faster time. Martin Bayer
editFollowing Czech driver Martin Bayer's fifth place finish, he was released by his tire sponsor contract to AKA Products after being found racing on Pro-Line tires during the final whilst under contract to AKA.[5] Bayer claimed he was allegedly under pressure by his car sponsor XRAY to run on Pro-Line and agreeing to do so after an open meeting with AKA's Mark Pavidis (also a participant and 2006 World Champion), which he denied but challenged Bayer to do so.[6]
