Annie Wilson, played by Shenae Grimes, is a fictional character from the CW network primetime drama 90210, the fourth series of the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise. The character was created by Rob Thomas, Gabe Sachs, and Jeff Judah, with later developments by Rebecca Sinclair.

The CW wanted the series to have a female perspective and focus more on teenage life and glamour; however, producers Jeff Judah and Gabe Sachs were more comfortable writing for men, featuring family stories, so the studio brought in Rebecca Rand Sinclair. The series would later primarily revolve around Annie who became the main character of the series, as opposed to Brandon Walsh being the main character in the original series and not Brenda Walsh. So the series would focus mostly on girls' point of view.

Annie was first introduced as the nice innocent girl from Kansas. The viewers saw a great metamorphosis in Annie's character in season 2 as she starts to become more and more of an angry rebellious outcast, after accidentally running a man over while driving drunk, and getting away without coming forward to the police, and also getting shunned by her peers. As the second season progresses we get to see different sides of Annie's character; angry, rebellious, loner, guilty. Grimes' performance on this season earned her a nomination for a Teen Choice Award.[1]
