Windhoek Gymnasium Private School was founded by Colette Rieckert who is currently the managing director of this newly established school in Namibia. The school is governed by a board of directors who together hold the power of decisions concerning the affairs within the school. The school is an completely independent organization from the Namibian Government because it is a private organization driven to educate the Namibian population.

Vision: "Windhoek Gymnasium envisions a Namibian school where learners, parents and the best-quality staff, all collaborate, as a school family, to achieve the highest standards of educational and interpersonal excellence in the country."[1]

Mission: "To provide high quality, holistic education with high academic standards to learners in all grades."[2]

Objectives: The development of character and personal growth[3] Development of body, mind and spirit;[4] The stimulation of intellectual, academic and physical growth;[5]

History

This school was opened on the 17th of January 2007 for the first time and started with a number 280 students in total which grew to an total of 340 students. The school only accepted primary school students at that time. Whilst they operated the primary school they initialized in the building of bigger more advanced premises to be able to handle a much larger amount of students at different levels of their school career. in the start of 2008 the school opened their doors to a total of 1100 students from primary to graade 12 students. In the year 2009 they added the pre-primary section to the school. The first group of grade 12 students to finish their school career was in the year 2009. [6]

The school won numerous awards, in 2007 and 2008 they won the Golden Arrow Awards which is awarded to the best private school in Namibia. The next award in 2009, 2010 and 2011 is the Diamond Arrow Award which is awarded to the best private school in Namibia with exceptional ratings. [7]
