Brandon Sosna is an American sports executive who is the senior director of football operations for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He has also worked as an executive with the Cincinnati Bearcats and USC Trojans of the NCAA and the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions of the NFL.

Early life

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended Sycamore High School. At Sycamore, he co-founded a non-profit organization that reached more than 25 countries and coached students in a school-wide basketball league he formed.[1][2] During summer vacations at Sycamore, he worked as volunteer at the Cincinnati Bearcats basketball camps.[2] He enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania in 2011, graduating with a bachelor's degree in political science in 2015.[2]

Career

Shortly after graduation, Sosna was hired at the University of Cincinnati in the marketing department of the Cincinnati Bearcats athletic program.[2] He was promoted to chief of staff in 2016. In 2017, he joined the Cleveland Browns as an assistant in football administration after being interested working with Browns executives Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta. Sosna transitioned to a salary cap and contract analyst.



In February 2019, Sosna was named the Bearcats' chief revenue officer.[3] He left in December 2019 to be chief of staff of the USC Trojans athletic program.[2] Sosna re-joined the NFL after being hired by the Detroit Lions in July 2022 as their senior director of football administration. He was hired by the NFL's Washington Commanders in May 2024, where he heads contract negotiations and salary cap management and leads the team's analytics department.[4][5]
