Didem Gurdur Broo is a computer scientist at the University of Cambridge[1] Department of Engineering [2].

Education edit

Gurdur Broo received a PhD in mechatronics from the KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden (September 2014 to December 2018)[3]. She received an MSc in Sustainable Energy and Environment Systems (September 2011 to August 2013) and a BSc in computer science (September 2008 to August 2011).

Career edit

After completing her PhD, Gurdur Broo started to work as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Cambridge. She contributed to the work of the Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction, Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology and the Centre for Digital Built Britain. Gurdur Broo published research in top tier journals and conferences [4] on data science for cyber-physical systems including interoperability assessment, data analytics, artificial intelligence, knowledge discovery, information visualization and visual analytics.

Gurdur Broo's research focuses on blending systems thinking, future studies and design thinking approaches to develop methods, methodologies and implementations for the purpose of overcoming interoperability, complexity and sustainability challenges related to cyber-physical systems such as smart cities/infrastructure systems, autonomous vehicles and collaborative robots. She works on the design and development of digital twins as a potential solution to integrate different systems digitally to increase the value that this integration would enable.
