Re-designing Wikipedia
editThe fourth year students of ÉSAD Valence have been working during the annual guess workshop on wikipedia and possible scenarios of developement for the digital encyclopedia.
Concept
editOur proposal is to, over the course of one semester, redesign Wikipedia. This does not mean only a restyling of the presentational surface, but a complete rethinking of what a born-digital encyclopaedia could be. From insertion to organisation to presentation to extension to archival, we'd like to create a set of prototypical systems for knowledge creation, sharing and sustenance. Systems that facilitate contextualisation and relativation between different information entities.
Workshop
editDuring one semester, together with the Zurich-based studio Astrom/Zimmer, we've elaborated on wide topics, such as :
- classification,
- browsing,
- materialisation,
- parasitization,
- navigation,
- vizualisation,
- democratisation of knowledge.
Presentations
editOur thoughts, experiments and conclusions will be presented in the auditorium on January 14th 2015 at 1:30 pm.
