The Iranian metal debate in full...

edit

Dude, I'm calm. I'd be calmer still if editors stuck to the house rules if they want to play at WP. Fair enough on the redirect, but don't make out that you hadn't re-re-reverted the list first, despite the clear evidence that such lists are not acceptable in WP articles, something which I really hope I've been able to make clear to you. I would advise that you build up by first creating articles on notable Iranian metal bands who satisfy WP:MUSIC, with a few such articles behind you I see no reason why an article about the regional scene and the notable, internally linked bands would be inappropriate. However, failing to assert and verify the importance of the scene and its constituent bands again would be problematic and we know where that road leads. Good luck with it all Deizio 00:56, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

You should then consider nominating HmiIc for deletion. If you and Spearhead can't work things out, I'll be happy to neutrally file a request for comment and we can see what other editors think. I agree with Spear in one respect, I personally don't see the point in redirecting Iranian metal to Metal in Iran as it is currently a copyvio case. I do also think that if a combined HmiIc article could point to common problems for bands wishing to exhibit heavy metal in such countries there could be an article there, rather than trying to show that Islamic themes are present in the music. There is no evidence of that right now, and I would support its deletion for my reasons on its talk page. Deizio 09:13, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

I've voted, and I removed your plea for delete votes, it really isn't the done thing and would probably hurt your case with other editors. Deizio 09:26, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Kash, notability and verifiability are crucial to Wikipedia, and cannot be circumvented. Again, I am not suggesting that these bands don't exist, or passing any judgement on the quality of their music. However, bands should satisfy the criteria at WP:MUSIC. Lists must conform to WP:NOT and external links to WP:EL. If that is not possible, for whatever reason, they should not be included in Wikipedia. I can be in no way accused bias or POV, as I am not copyediting the article. I am simply bringing it in line with Wikipedia standards and policies. Rest assured I've been through this before with many articles, the vast majority of which I have even less connection to than Iranian metal. Deizio 12:45, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Your personal assertion that they meet the standards is, to put it bluntly, not important. I could tell you that my left foot went on a major concert tour in Eastern Europe. Per WP:V, an official policy, information on Wikipedia must be verified. This is to avoid "POV", something which you keep sticking in peoples faces despite consistently failing to verify the accuracy of the information you post. Please, try creating individual articles on some of the bands you listed and see if they pass WP:MUSIC. If you look at articles about notable bands, scenes and genres, you will note the required style. Deizio 13:04, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
I have no personal interest in listening to "Iranian metal" music. I have an interest in the presentation of all articles, especially metal-related ones, and ensuring that only quality, verifiable information is included on Wikipedia. For someone who is "busy", you sure have a lot of recent contributions to Wikipedia... Deizio 13:55, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I am a dedicated contributer, thanks for reminding both me and yourself about this. I ask you not to contact me from now as I am irritated by it. Leave article discussions to the article talk pages. -- - K a s h Talk | email 14:05, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
