Poker Girls Poker Girls is a web series created by Jewelle Colwell. The series began as an assignment for Jewelle to write, cast, direct and edit an original scene involving four people sitting around a table. Jewelle elicited the assistance of some of her acting friends and Poker Girls was born in the fall of 2010. The team loved the chance to work and play together so much that they decided to create a web series, releasing a new episode each week. Jewelle wrote scripts on Monday/Tuesday and then distributed them to the cast who showed up Friday afternoons to shoot. The initial cast members were Dawn Harvey, as Teresa, Toni Lynne as Katherine, Maire Muncaster, as Rose, ??? as ???, and Lara Taillon, as Vicki. The initial premise was a weekly poker game between the ladies, with Jewelle crafting comedic scripts based on the characters personalities and relationships. Initially, Jewelle took on the roles of writer, director, lights, camera, sound, props, costumes, editing, etc. By the fourth episode, professional "behind the scenes" personnel were being utilized to some degree and the series began evolving. Some cast members left (Maire Muncaster and ???) and new ones were added (Rae Farrer as Vickie's sister, Marcy and Jewelle herself joined the fray as Summer ???, an undercover cop).

Poker Girls was initially distributed on You Tube via Jewelle's production company, SkyeLove Pictures. As viewership began to grow, Poker Girls went through a metamorphosis and came out bigger and better in early 2011 . The game was stepped up several notches with longer scripts and a full production crew. The show moved out of Jewelle's dining room and began to be shot on location throughout Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The premise was modified such that Poker Girls had evolved into a crime drama where Summer ??? uses the game of Poker to get close to unsuspecting criminals. Judy Norton (best known for her role as Mary Ellen on the Waltons) joined the Season 2 premiere playing the role of Teresa's boss. The season premiere was directed by Neil Schell, acting coach to the Poker Girls core cast and director of several seasons of two television series' shot in Kenya, Africa - Higher Learning and ???. relationships and== References ==
