David Vronay is a Research Manager currently working in WEX, the Windows EXperience group at Microsoft, where he runs the UX Compliance team. He joined the Windows team in 2005 and ran the Fit & Finish effort in Windows Vista.


Job History

Vronay joined Apple Computer in 1988 where he was a founding member of the SK8 team. After SK8, he joined the Human Interface Group and worked on the HyperMovie team with Mike Mills, doing Interactive Quicktime and Navigable Movies.

He left Apple in 1993 to form ImaginEngine, a children's software company most widely known for publishing Awesome Animated Monster Maker, one of the first CD-ROM titles intended for small children.

In 1996, he joined Microsoft Research and worked in the Social computing research group. While there he contributed to Virtual World software as well as a variety of social computing research prototypes. He also designed the photo sharing software that eventually became Photo Story.

From 2003 to 2005, he worked for Microsoft Research Asia in Beijing, China, where he started ACID, the Asia Center for Interaction Design. ACID was the first research group dedicated to interaction design research in China.

Since 2005, he has been working in the Windows Client team, currently known as WEX.
