I am Dave Lowe from sunny Tampa, Florida, USA. I am a very opinionated guy, so I should fit right in here! Currently, I am watching many Star Trek articles and some from other television series. I've done some wiki stuff before. Call it a hobby. I am a bit of a Trekkie Fanboy.
Before you ask, no. I don’t live in a dorm. I'm too old for college. DaveDorm is just a nickname. I started my original DaveDorm blog with an idea to make a play on sites like VoyeurDorm. You know, you can log in and look at Dave and see what he was doing at any time. It stems from the latin dormiere which means “where to live”. Since I pretty much live online, then this is the place to find me. DaveDorm. Get it?
Unfortunately, I stopped blogging to the general public in 2007. A few asshats were cyber-stalking and making threats. So I quit. I do post regularly on my Facebook profile. That way I can keep the troublemakers out.
So I am this guy who lives online. I “suffer” from bipolar disorder. I can’t really say I suffer from it, as I am mostly happy with who I am and what I have turned out to be as a grown up. I have six wonderful kids and am currently in a relationship with the best woman ever.
I am a PC Repair Technician. I used to be a standard-issue IT lackey in a call center. I hold A+ Certification and a degree in Computer Networking. I am a Linux Geek. I primarily run Debian as my distribution of choice, though I have dabbled in many distributions over the past 7 years.I am Registered Linux User #375232 according to the Linux Counter.
I am also a big fan of karaoke. I don’t get out as much as I used to, but you may hear me in local karaoke dives crooning to oldies, 80’s pop and classic rock with a few new tunes sprinkled in to keep it interesting.
