Daniel Cohen (Born in 1984) Israeli Conductor and Violinist

Daniel Cohen Music director of the Eden Sinfonia[1]in London, Artistic Director of the Gropius Ensemble [2], Israel's interdisciplinary group and chief conductor of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra.

In 2007 Daniel completed his Postgraduate Conducting Studies at the Royal Academy of Music. Among his teachers were George Hurst, Colin Metters and Sir Colin Davies.

Since his debut at the age of 19 Daniel conducted such orchestras as the Israel Philharmonic,the Kammerphilharmonie Graz, the King's College London Symphony Orchestra, the Keiv Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and the Ashover Festival Symphony Orchestra and this coming season Daniel will conduct the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and the Israeli Chamber Orchestra[3].

In 2007 Daniel won the first prize in the Admont International Conducting Competition in Austria and in 2008 won the first prize in the Aviv Competition in Israel (the Yri Aharonowich prize)[4].

in the Summer of 2008 Daniel was invited to assist Daniel Barenboim in the preparation of Arnold Schoenberg's Symphonic Variation's op 31 with the West Eastern Divan Orchestra.He also assisted Yan Pascal Tortelier with the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra in London.

As a violinist Daniel has performed as a soloist with various orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra and the Haifa Symphony Orchestra' led the Tel Aviv Soloists[5] and is a member of Daniel Barenboim's West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.

Daniel is to make his conducting debut at the Queen Elizabeth Hall this November, conducting the Eden Sinfonia[6]
