Raye Hampton (actress)
Raye Hampton (born Ella Norton Garrett) was a Vaudeville and Silent Film actress active from 1908 to 1927. She was born in Burleson county, TX on April 4, 1875 and died in Los Angeles, CA April 22, 1944. Her family first moved to Stockton, CA and later to Oakland, CA. She married 3 times, first to Frank to Dooling, 2nd to Hermann Threlkeld, and 3rd to John Zapf. In 1908, per the Oakland city directory she is listed as an actress. The 1910 census lists Ella Dooling as a Vaudeville actress, and by 1920 after her move to Los Angeles she fist goes by the name Raye Hampton (per 1920 US census Los Angeles county). Her first two films were shorts, filmed in 1920 called "Kick" and "A Bungalow Bungle". Her film career ended at the illness and subsequent death of her sister whose children she then raised.
