Brenton Anthony Thomas, better known by the name of “Kinz”, or as he is affectionately called the “Don Dadda” of Canadian dancehall, is a songwriter, recording artist, entertainer and creative visualist hailing from Jamaica. His matchless sound and style are influenced by both the beauty and grit of the island that raised him. Born into the sweet melodies of reggae and the infectious rhythms of dancehall, Kinz became aware of his passion for music at a very young age. By his early teens he went head to head with some of Jamaica’s top talent, winning his first title in a DJing competition in 2005.
By growing up in the streets of downtown Kingston, Kinz has witnessed some of the best and worst parts of human nature. Not knowing whether the next day would be promised, he used every chance to perfect his craft. He was given the unique opportunity to practice under producers at Callamillionnare Records, doing dub plates at the nation’s best production houses.
After graduating from Kellits High School, Kinz made his biggest career move thus far, taking a brave leap across the Atlantic to Halifax, Nova Scotia. He collaborated with the Official Night Owls in 2014, and has since exploded on the region’s music scene with the release of “Something Different”, “Bout that life” and hit single, “Shaka Boom Boom” featuring Moonwalka. Kinz co-directed visuals for “Shaka Boom Boom” which received the award for best music video at the Emerging Lens Film Festival in 2016. He currently ranks among the top 10 dancehall artists in Canada by Reverb Nation.
A dynamic entertainer with an energizing stage presence, Brenton “Kinz” Thomas is revolutionizing dancehall music on the nation’s east coast. His well anticipated Project is slated to gain popularity with national and international audiences.
