  1. ^ The team were asked to pick the person who played Great Uncle Bulgaria on Top of the Pops.
  2. ^ Tony Burrows appeared twice in the Identity Parade as a reference to when he appeared three times on one episode of Top of the Pops. The clips shown were from the same episode. As Edison Lighthouse, Tony was disguised with a black overcoat, hat and glasses.
  3. ^ This line-up marks the first appearance of Athelston Williams (the staring man), who was number 3. After Starr revealed himself, the whole panel urged Athelston to step forward, which he did, to the joy of the audience and panel, leading Mark to remark "It's the parable of the bald man who could walk!"
  4. ^ Athelston appeared in this line-up as well, as number 5. Mark, Phill and Sean all appear to be hypnotised - Mark to wander aimlessly, Sean to stand beside Athelston and Phill to kill Mark before bowing down before Athelston exclaiming "What do you want from us?"
  5. ^ Athelston appeared in this line-up as well - he was number 2.
  6. ^ Mark appeared in the line-up as number 5, claiming they were "saving some money on an extra". Sean's team incorrectly picked Mark.
  7. ^ Athelston also appeared in this line-up - he was number 5.
  8. ^ a b c d e Christmas Special
  9. ^ This was an Identity Parade with a twist - Sean's team had a parade of puppets - Flat Eric, Gordon the Gopher, Pinky and Perky, Sweep and Orville the Duck and had to guess who spent the longest on the UK album charts; Phill's team had a parade of cardboard cut-outs of rappers - Tupac Shakur, Puff Daddy, Bushwick Bill, Notorious BIGand Ol' Dirty Bastard - and Phill had to shoot at which one hadn't been shot at with a toy gun.
  10. ^ Incidentally, John Otway was a panellist on the 100th show in 2003, making him the first Identity Parade member to become a panellist on the show.
  11. ^ During this Identity Parade, Lloyd Cole switched places with number 4 in the line-up in a successful attempt to make him laugh - "every comic's dream!"
  12. ^ Bizarrely, in a later show the realDave Hill appeared in somebody else's line-up!
  13. ^ Phill's team had to guess the one member of the line-up who wasn't part of the band.
  14. ^ Eurovision Song Contest special. Also Sean Hughes' last ever show.

  16. ^ This makes Jimmy Constable the first panellist on the show to be in the line-up on the Identity Parade - Constable was a panellist in 1998.
  17. ^ Bill's team were presented with a line-up of Michael Jackson impersonators, and had to guess which one was not a real impersonator. They would have had the real Michael Jackson but they "already had Claudia Winklemandangling one over the balcony."
  18. ^ Athelston appeared in this lineup - number 4. Unfortunately, Kenziekept asking questions about him, before asking Mark "Am I being awkward?" Mark replied with "No, I think it's pronounced 'retarded'!"
  19. ^ who may well have been drunk at the time
  20. ^ picked out after a rather long deviation
  21. ^ Phill's team successfully picked her out from the line-up, but her outburst shortly afterwards and chasing Mark round the studio caused him "pain".
  22. ^ This line-up marks Athelston's last ever appearance in the Identity Parade.

  24. ^ Rochelle Wiseman was later a panellist in the 2009 series when in The Saturdays
  25. ^ In order to mock how many were in Blazin' Squad, the one member had to be picked from ten instead of five. This lineup also included a middle-aged woman!
  26. ^ Due to the scandal where Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand made lewd phonecalls to Andrew Sachs' granddaughter on Russell's radio show, the BBC decided to suspend the two comedians and pull all their shows pending further investigation. Even though this episode of Buzzcocks was taped before the suspension, this episode due to air on 30 October was pulled as well.
  27. ^ From this episode, the show moved to Wednesday nights
  28. ^ Pat Sharp of Pat and Mick also appeared in this line up. He also appeared in Pianoman's Identity Parade line up in the same episode.
