Biographical Sketch

edit

I am currently a scholar at Indiana University, currently working on a dissertation entitled "'Divided Affection': Polyamorousness in Eighteenth-Century Life". In this project, I examine the way that early novelists, poets, theologians, and artists negotiate unruly desire and multiple erotic attachments around the period's conceptions of intimacy. Elsewhere, I have published on the surprising connections between eighteenth-century and contemporary popular culture, including the ideological overlaps between Latina superstar, Shakira, and the Marquis de Sade.

My interest in Wikipedia has been inspired by my dear friend and colleague, Adrianne Wadewitz, who worked tirelessly to diversify content and the contributors to this increasingly-valuable online resource.
