Sijibomi Ogundele

Sijibomi Ogundele (born April 8, 1983)[1] is a Nigerian venture capitalist, investment strategist, real estate businessman[2]. He is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the multi-billion dollar real estate firm Sujimoto Construction Ltd which has offices in Lagos, Dubai, Riyadh, Accra, Paris and Madrid.[3]

Early life

Siji bomi Ogundele is a Nigerian of Yoruba origin born on April 8, 1983 in Agege, Lagos. He attended Lagos State Model College, Meiran and thereafter proceeded to the Anglia Ruskin University to study law. His passion for entrepreneurship started at a tender age when he was introduced to business in Africa’s largest market, Oke-Arin[4]. He attributes his success to his mother who started out as a sales girl and became one of the top distributors for Nestle[1]. While he started out a real estate agent in the south of France as far back as 1998, his first major break came in 2011 when he bought an apartment in Paris, remodeled and sold it for twice the price in less than two months[4]. He speaks English, French, Spanish, Hausa and has working knowledge of Japanese and Arabic languages[5].

Career

Sijibomi Ogundele started his career in risk assessment in 2004, where he moved up to lending in SMEs and set up Moto Finance in Paris which later branched out in Accra, Dubai, Madrid and New York City; achieving significant industry milestones. He then later moved into Nigerian Real Estate industry, additionally into Risk Assessment and Project Management. He became a partner of Sujimotos Investments, and started his own company Sujimoto Construction Ltd in 2013. He named his company after Dr. Sujimoto Koga, a Japanese university professor who boosted his confidence, thereby causing a change in his life and business. His first major project was Lincoln Avenue, a set of 16 town houses of 4 bedroom apartments in Accra, Ghana. This was followed by Medici Luxury Terraces (7 units of terrace houses comprising of four bedrooms) in Ikoyi, Lagos, and Lorenzo(the tallest residential building in Lagos)[6]. His latest project is GuilianobySujimoto which is located on banana island in Lagos[7].

LorenzobySujimoto

In 2015, Sijibomi Ogundele presented his dream project LorenzobySujimoto which was to be the tallest residential building in sub-Saharan Africa with an estimated cost of 90 million dollars. Due to the Nigerian economy crash of 2016/2017, some of his investors pulled out which led to to a stall in development of the project[8].

Philanthropy

In 2016, Olajumoke Orisaguna, the Nigerian breadseller turned model was offered luxury accommodation and education to learn Etiquette, Soft Skills, Social Graces and Communication at Poise Nigeria as one of Sujimoto's corporate social responsibility projects[9]. As part of Ogundele's desire to create a platform to inspire and mentor the next generation, the Sujimoto one-day internship and mentoring programme was created. Its objective is empowering young aspiring entrepreneurs with business skills, advisory, mentorship and financial support. Young Nigerian students between the ages of  12 and  22 were specially selected from different institutions from all over Nigeria to participate[4].

Personal Life

Although little is known about Sijibomi Ogundele's personal life, there have been rumors of him dating ex-beauty queen, Dabota Lawson[10]. On October 18th, 2017, he also announced via his instagram page his intention to crown his true love with a house in banana island and a Rolls Royce whenever he finds her.[11]
