Article: No article specified
Blurb: No blurb specified
This is a template for nominating new candidates for the In the News section at WP:ITNC.
{{ITN candidate | article = <!-- Do not wikilink --> | article2 = <!-- Do not wikilink - leave blank if nominating only one article --> | blurb = <!-- Add your suggestion of the blurb; should be written in simple present tense. --> | sources = <!-- Include a reference from a verifiable, reliable source. --> | updated = <!-- (yes/no); leave blank if you aren't sure --> | updated2 = <!-- (yes/no); only if there's a second article and article2 is filled in! Leave blank if unsure --> | nominator = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- Do NOT change this --> | updater = <!-- Should be filled with the username of the person who has contributed the most to updates. --> | updater2 = <!-- if more than one updater --> | updater3 = <!-- if more than two updaters --> | ITNR = (yes/no) <!-- leave blank if you aren't sure --> | minority = no <!-- or insert a keyword for a specific category given below --> | note = <!-- Can be used to note potential problems with the nomination or article. --> | nom cmt = <!-- Add the reason for nominating the item. --> | sign = --~~~~ <!-- Do NOT change this --> }}
All the parameters are optional.
The template has two main parameters, article and blurb, and if they are missing it states no article specified, and no blurb specified. The article automatically gets a link created to the article page.
{{ITN candidate|article=Example|blurb=Reason why [[Example]] is in the news}}
Other parameters:
- article2, which allows for two related articles in the news to be nominated in the same blurb. Use rarely.
- sources, which are links to relevant news sources showing why the nominated article is in the news
- updated, which can be yes or no, and changes the 'Article' text to 'Updated article', or 'Article to update' respectively.
- updated2, per above but only if the article2 parameter is used.
- nominator, which should be filled in with the username of the person nominating the candidate article and story.
- updater, which should be filled in if and/or when the article to be posted is updated, with the username of the person who has contributed the most to updates.
- updater2; updater3, same as updater but allowing for the possibility that the article was jointly updated
- If both nominator and updater are the same person, both fields must still be filled in, although the template will return one line with the user credited as both nominator and updater.
- ITNR, which can be yes or no, if yes a comment is added about the item being a recurring item and so that its importance has already been considered.
- minority. If minority topic status is claimed for the story use the appropriate keyword for the category. If no appropriate category exists minority topic status is not applicable and this should be left blank or set to no:
- business: for business and economic stories
- infrastructure: for infrastructure-related stories
- culture: for stories of cultural significance
- technology: for technology-related stories
- disputed: not for new nominations. Used when an editor wishes to contest an assertion of minority topic status. Reasons for using this tag must be given in the discussion or the previous tag may be reinstated.
- note, which can be used by anyone to note potential problems with the nomination or article.
- nom cmt, which is the nominator's reasoning for nominating the item.
- sign, which is the nominator's signature (~~~~).
