Timeless Journey is an electronic music project created by person or persons unknown. Their music has been compared to that of Moby, Tangerine Dream, Mylo, Delerium, Conjure One, Underworld, Enigma and Jean Michel Jarre. Their debut Album The Voyager's Saga went on general release in early February 2012. Their upcoming second album Drawing a Line is due to be released 1st September 2014.
Members & History
editTimeless Journey, or TJ as it shows on the project's promotional material, is believed to be a solo project. It was founded as such in 2011 by Kelly LaVaux. The projects initial single releases, as well as the debut album The Voyager's Saga released in 2012 is attributed to Ms LaVaux.[1] [2] Since these initial releases however, the name of Ms LaVaux is no longer present on any of the project's releases or promotional material. That, together with the radical departure in styles between the debut and upcoming second album and movement to another label could be an indication that the members of the project have changed. The biography on the official website states that they first began an interest in music at the age of three. [3]and speaks of the musician as though it were a single person, rather than a group entity which could be interpreted as Ms Lavaux has simply rebranded. This is further enforced by promotional material on the project's official online pages of a single female doll in an urban landscape [4]which suggests that the driving force behind the project is female. Whether this is is Ms Lavaux however is unknown, and as of the present time the project has given no official interview in which the core members of the project are confirmed.
Timeless Journey has collaborated on more than once occasion with guest vocalist Johnny Panic [5]as well as using written text from the author Darren Sellars[6] however it is unknown if these contributors are simply featured or represent members of the project itself.
Music
editThe debut album The Voyager's Saga was released February 2012 to good reviews. A combination of classical and Ambient tracks including an updated version of Pachalbel's Canon, the album was featured as the soundtrack on the Fifth King produced feature length documentary Neoretroism. [2]There were no singles released from this album, however the downloads of the title track, as well as the singles Omni and Only in the Rain led the project to explore new avenues of musical endeavor rather than simply classical and to express themselves in a style not restricted by previous works.
In, 2013 Timeless Journey moved to the independent label MadBadger. Ironically, the first single of Timeless Journey's second album, (released April 2014, was a remix/cover of the 1920's jazz song Vododeo Blues, previously covered by the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. Entitled simply Vododeo, this was a show of intent of the changing direction of the project's musical style. This was followed shortly after by the second single Alive which was indicative of an even bigger departure from the genre of the first album in that it. for the first time featured female vocals rather than being a straight instrumental track. Two further singles were released prior to the album's distribution; Castaway, and Dipstick - both of which, like the two singles prior were more dance oriented than anything Timeless Journey had produced before. The album itself Drawing a Line, from which the last four singles are taken is due for release on the 1st September 2014
