East Midlands Railway has ordered 33 five-car dual mode units from Hitachi, with these units scheduled to enter service in 2022.[1]

A number of diesel powered units are expected, with nine Class 156s due to transfer from Greater Anglia[2], albeit on a short term basis. East Midlands Railway will also operate 28 Class 170 units, with these due from Abellio ScotRail and West Midlands Trains, and four Class 180s from Hull Trains.[3]

To operate electrified services between London and Corby, 21 Class 360 Desiro units are to transfer from Greater Anglia.
