Oleg Kharuk

Oleg Kharuk (born on June 29, 1969 in Sverdlovsk, in Luhansk region of Ukraine) is a television producer, writer, racing driver and a GT4 class pilot in the 2018 European auto racing championship, founder of the LEOMAX company and winner of the Retail nomination for the 2016 International Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Russia.[1][2]

Education

In 1993, Kharuk obtained an engineering degree from the Moscow State Mining University. In 1999, he obtained a degree in Film and Television Production from the Trebas Institute of Television and Cinematography in Toronto, Canada.

Producer activity

After attending Trebas, Kharuk became a producer at ATN in Canada. In January 2001, he hosted a 24-hour telethon to aid victims of the earthquake in Gujarat, India. Famous artists and politicians, such as Jean Chrétien, the Prime Minister of Canada, made an appearance during this show.

After working at ATN, Kharuk produced the television show, ‘‘Saturday Morning’’, and promoted the concerts of Russian artists in Canada. After returning to Russia in 2006, he created the Style and Fashion television channel a few years later. Valentin Yudashkin, the famous fashion designer, was the editor-in-chief of this channel.[3][4][5][6]

Kharuk also produced “Our Home Shopping’’ for the Domashny television channel. This show was a 60-episode comedy concerning life behind-the-scenes on television.[7]

In 2020, Oleg Kharuk wrote the adventure novel, “Hustlers in Paradise”.

Entrepreneurial activity

Oleg Kharuk is the founder of LEOMAX, which is one of the largest e-commerce companies in Russia. In 2013, the investment firm, One Equity Partners, a division of JP Morgan, offered to buy 51% of LEOMAX, valuing the company at $ 280 million. However, the deal was never closed.

Oleg Kharuk has been investing in start-ups in the sectors of e-commerce, finance, robotics and artificial intelligence since 2018.[8]

Sports career

Kharuk has regularly taken part in triathlon endurance competitions, such as IronMan, since 2015.

Charity work

Oleg Kharuk founded the St. Nicholas Charitable Foundation. The foundation provides assistance to the homeless in Moscow. In the winter of 2014, the foundation assisted over 8,000 homeless people by offering shelter, food and medical care.[16]

The Foundation financed the Nadezhda Motor Rally in 2014. During the 16-day run, delivery drop-offs for clothes, shoes, medicine, and food for the homeless were organized in 10 Russian cities.[17]

Titles and Awards

In 2016, Kharuk won the Entrepreneur of the Year International Competition in Russia in the Retail nomination.

Personal Life

Oleg Kharuk lives in London, England. He is married and has three children.
