  • Duncans Lane in Tremont (Mel 74 K2) is named after the Duncan family, who lived in the One Tree Hill area.
  • Doongalla homestead was built in the 1890s by Sir Matthew Davies, who named the property Invermay. It was renamed Doongalla by a subsequent owner, Miss Simson, in 1909. It was destroyed by fire in 1932. A few remains of the house can be found in Dooggalla Forest (Mel 66 D5)
    • Perhaps Simpsons Road (Mel 66 A6) is named after Miss Simson.
  • Ferndale was a property in The Basin, built in 1889 and destroyed by bushfire in 1962. The land was first selected by William Tyner in 1877, and later acquired by tea merchant James Griffiths. Where was Ferndale?
    • Perhaps on Ferndale Road (Mel 66 A10)
  • John and James Griffiths ran tea merchant company Griffiths Brothers. James lived at Ferndale in The Basin, and John lived in Upwey, perhaps at a property called Forest Park.
  • Menzies Creek was named after John Menzies, a goldminer in the area. The town sprung up after gold was discovered in nearby Emerald in 1858.
