Prof. (FH) Mag. Christian Maurer (born 1966 in Steyr) is an Austrian E-Tourism and E-Marketing researcher and lecturer at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, Austria.

Christian Maurer studied German Philology and Communication Sciences at the University of Vienna. From 1995-1998 he was Lecturer at the University of Hull in GB, where he also studied for a post-graduate diploma in ‘Applied Language and New Technologies’ focussing on Internet technologies and e-learning.

From 2000 to 2004 Christian Maurer worked for the Austrian National Tourist Office (ANTO) in Vienna. In the position of Head of Information Management he was responsible for strategic planning and e-marketing, the ANTO’s internet portal, and the holiday service center austria.info. In addition he represented the ANTO within the ETC's New Media Group as vice chair and was involved in the ETC’s European Internet portal project.

Christian Maurer has published research papers and has held many presentations to various e-Tourism topics at international conferences. He is fellow of THE-ICE, member of the International Federation for IT in Travel & Tourism (IFITT).

He is also co-founder of the International Tourism Conference in Tourism Research (ISCONTOUR).
