Miss. Perry Physical Education

  1. Lessons Goal-  For students to get better educated and have a better understanding on the importance of physical exercise throughout your daily lives for a healthier lifestyle.
  2. Objectives for each day/unit- To stay active and have fun. Interacting with other students while playing games, learning more about a sport you might of not known much about before or learning different exercises that could improve your health.
  3. How to introduce a topic- First start off by informing to sport or activity they will be doing that day. Explain the games fully or explain the motions how to pass or catch a ball depending on the sport. Keep it simple and fun.
  4. What materials students need- T-shirt, shorts, sneakers. Girls need to wear appropriate athletic shirts and shorts that are long enough. Sneakers need to have laces that can tie. Teacher provides objects needed for the game or sport for that day.
  5. How to close the lesson- Review the rules of the game or motions for the sport so everyone has a better understanding of the importance of exercise and your health so  at the end of the day then when they started.

5 day lesson plan:

Day 1

Research a sport you would like to learn more about and why you would like to learn more about it and in ways that sport can improve your health style according to the Wikapedia (ex. Cardio, strength, flexibility) article and discuss it in groups with other students.

Day 2

For the day, write down everything you eat including total fats, calories, sugars so we can compare the amount of calories one should be consuming in one day according to how much you exercise.

Day 3

Practice taking your parents/ siblings heart rates for one minute each and write how recording your heart rate can be benefical for your health and improving stamina according to Wikapedia article. Compare answers in a group.

Day 4

Watch a sports game, dance show, gymnastic show, exc and get paper signed by coach/instructor to show you were there. Write what you observed and how important cardio, weights and stretching are for them to perform their best.

Day 5

Write a short response on something you learned this week in gym class. It can be about a sport you learned about or terminology. Just show that you put in the effort and incorporate understanding from the article you read for the week.

-Students will be graded on effort and participation!

-Absences will be determined by me how that individual will make it up. Either coming in during a different class time or writing a short essay to get points back from missing class.
