Ashlie Kego (* 1989 in Iowa City, Iowa, USA) is an African-American artist, who paints Modern African art.
She began painting during the pandemic. Today, her paintings are being exhibited in several galleries and Museums in the US and Nigeria. The de Young Museum of San Francisco invited her to exhibit her first painting. [1]
The San Francisco Standard mentioned her first painting as 1 out of 9 “must see” paintings at the de Young Museum. [2]
Kego's painting have been used for several events, like the panel interview at BET Awards [3], the Black Wall Street Dinner on June/13, 2023 [4], the 12th Annual African Film Festival and others.
In addition, she volunteers as ambassador for Sickle Cell 101 to spread awareness about Sickle cell disease. [5] Her activities caught the attention of James Clyburn at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to get a painting from Kego. [6].
Besides her painting activities, Kego is a known singer of African-Pop music in Nigeria.
