Michael Anthony Mayola

Michael Mayola is American prisoner incarcerated at Staton Correctional Facility. He was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment on November 15, 1962 for the first degree murder of an 11 year old Alabama boy. He is the longest serving prisoner in Alabama[1]

Murder Case

On August 2, 1962, Larry Thomas was kidnapped after watching a little league baseball practice in Midfield, Alabama, his body was later found in a pit on August 7, 2962. Mayola then turned himself into the F.B.I claiming he killed Larry Thomas he was promptly arrested and waived extradition proceedings. He was sent to Oneonta to stand trial. He was found guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.[2]
