David Lapin is the CEO of Lapin Consulting International, Inc. (formerly Strategic Business Ethics), a California-based consulting firm that he founded in 1981.

Lapin was born in Johanesburg, South Africa to a Jewish family of Lithuanian descent. He is the son of the late Rabbi A. H. Lapin (1912-1991), a nephew of Rabbi Elya Lopian (1872–1970), senior rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregation of Johannesburg, and chief rabbi of the Cape Town Hebrew Congregation and brother of well known Rabbi Daniel Lapin and of Rabbi Raphael Lapin. In 1997, Lapin moved his family and his Management Consulting practice’s head office from South Africa to Los Angeles. Lapin Consulting International has offices in Los Angeles, Toronto, and Johannesburg.

Lapin studied Business Law, Legal and Moral Philosophy, and Talmudic Logic in the UK and Israel. Before founding his consulting practice, he was the head of the Metals, Minerals & Energy Division of Raphaely International, a global commodity trading company.

He was formerly the spiritual leader of the Pacific Jewish Center, an Orthodox synagogue in Venice, California and of the Keter Torah Congregation in Johannesburg, South Africa, which he founded in 1975 and led until his emigration from South Africa in 1997.

Lapin is the author of Lead by Greatness, published 2012.
