Chakri Yarlagadda is a renouned Cardiologist, investigator, and teachesr. He was born in Medapadu, a small village in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. His birth name is Srinivasa Chakravarthy Yarlagadda which was legally changed to Chakri Yarlagadda in 2001. He was mostly home schooled till the age of 12 at which he was admitted to 7th grade in 1978 at M S N C High School in Kakinada. His area of intersest is Science since his 8th grade, some what influenced by his science teacher Radhamani, went on to his college with B.P.C. major. Always excelled in his class, well liked by his peers and awarded validictorian in his BPC and subsequently joined his Medical school Siddhartha Medical College in Vijayawada. During his early medical school fascinated by the ever beating, non tiring "Heart" he developed interst in Cardiology. During his Internship, he got a part-time job at City Cardiac center, one of the well known cardiology hospital those days, in Vijayawada. After working as a house-sourgen at he general Hospital from 7am to 2pm he goes to his second job, his dream work, at CCC under the renouned cardiologist Dr. P. Ramesh Babu. He always wanted to be a Cardiologist and to pursue his career in USA. To fulfill his life long dream he married to Sohini in December 7, 1990 and after completing his internship immigrated to USA in August 1991.

Currently working in Youngstown, Ohio since year 2000. His group OHI is one of the well known, reputed cardiology practices in Youngstown. He is the vice-president, Echo and Nuclear cardiology director, and Radiation safty officer at Ohio Heart Institute.

Received several awards. Excellence in Peadiatrics by Indian Academay of Pediatrics in 1989 "Fellow of the year" by Caduceus Club at James Quillen College of Medicine, Johnson City, TN in 1998 "Hind Rattan Award" by NRI welfare Society of India during 29th International Congress of NRI's meeting in New Delhi, India in january 2010. "Pravasi Achievrs Gold Medal Award" by NRI welfare Society in September 2010 at House of Lords in London. "Nav Rattan Award" by NRI Welfare Society of India during 30th International Congress of NRIs meeting in New Delhi, India in January 2011.

Publications: Written several text book chapters for eMedicine/WebMD and published in scientific journals.

In his profession in-addition to taking care of his patients which is his first and foremost priority, he also enjoy teaching and research. Out side of his professional career his interests are travel, model aviation, astronomy, motor cycling, and photography. His areas of interests in the field of cardiology are pacemakers, nuclear cardilogy, and cardiac tamponade. Currently he lives in Youngstown, Ohio, USA with his wife Sohini and son Vishnu Chand.
