Wikitrivia will function as a repository for all of the extremely interesting but trivial information that Wikipedians find but which has no place in the encyclopedia. Similar to WikiQuote, entries will be arranged by subject, and all items must be cited. In this way, a reader who finds something interesting can read more on the subject. Using interwiki templates like those for Wiktionary and Wikiquote, Wikipedia editors can keep Wikipedia articles free from non-encyclopedic information while also providing a link to a trusted central Wikimedia location for that information. Debates over trivia's validity on individual talk pages, as well as Wikipedia talk:Trivia, will end, and everyone can go back to being productive.
Finally, "Wikitrivia" opens up a number of new opportunities for the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikitrivia content can be sold to other sites, and stand-alone products can be created, based on the concept and brand.
