As an editor on Wikipedia, my main goal is to give accurate and detailed information regarding the subject that I'm covering. Case in point, my first edit was to correct a mistake on 2020 Easter tornado outbreak article in April 2020. However, my role has also evolved as well. I'd like to not only make things more accurate and detailed, but also to create new pages of information that may not be as well known. My first project was fixing the tornado emergency list page as some of the information was inaccurate or missing. However, I'm now engaged in several projects that are to help expand and fix the articles that are lacking in detail. However, I'm not into the all the GA and featured article because those accomplishments aren't my main goal. This, of course, is not to say that I'm just tossing random articles with whatever information I want to convey, but I'll leave all that fancy work to the others. LOL!

My next big role after helping to add information to the Easter tornado outbreak came during the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season when Hurricane Isaias struck the east coast in early-August, spawning a tornado outbreak. This event hit me especially hard as an EF3 tornado devastated areas near Windsor, North Carolina, where my Native American heritage is from. The editors were gracious enough to let me start the tornado outbreak article while also letting me write the section for this destructive tornado. (That article needs to be updated for NCDC reports by the way. LOL!)

My role in the tropical cyclone community, however, became firmly established when Hurricane Laura devastated the Gulf Coast. As the event unfolded on August 27, I went to the IEM page, found the NWS offices affected by the storm, and literally began adding LSR after LSR into Laura's article for HOURS while also including reports from the NHC. I also helped revert the numerous instances of vandalism that plagued the article early in its existence. LOL. By the time September roled around, I had made 224 edits and had essentially written out the entire impacts section. The reward was being called member of the month in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical cyclones/Newsletter/Archive 42. (otherwise known as The Hurricane Herald) Since then, I've become entrenched in helping to update the real time information for these storms as well as fix the meteorological history, preparations, and impacts of the storms.

One of the things that was also acknowledged, however, was my heavy expansion of the tornado pages. I was actually appalled when I first came onto Wikipedia about the lack of clear, accurate, and detailed information that was on the main and outbreak tornado articles. I quickly set out to fix that, first starting with adding the missing tornadoes from the 1980 Grand Island tornado outbreak. However that wasn't enough for me; I created and worked on tornado pages for 1950-1959, while also adding in information for 1960-1965 pages. Since then, I have created, expanded, and corrected many tornado articles, including several tornado outbreak articles, and even recently started a page for 1949.

Despite being mostly in weather projects, this is not the only things I monitor. As a train enthusiasts, I occasionally work on Amtrak articles, especially with the exciting announcement of expanded service. I'm also part of the NFL project, helping with roster moves and game summaries, most of which involve my favorite team: the Baltimore Ravens. This has allowed me to meet many other editors and improve my own editing skills on this site.

As of March 2022, my projects are as follows:

1. Fix the tornado emergency list page to accurately include all tornado emergencies ever issued.

2. Make sections for notable tornadoes in their respective articles.

3. Expand the main tornado pages (mostly prior to 2010) with more accurate, detailed information.

4. Create tornado outbreak articles for earlier years.

5. Fix the tornado outbreak articles already made by fixing details, updating the tornado chart format, and adding damage information and nob-tornadic impacts.

6. Add ratings to all tornadoes prior to the introduction of the EFU rating, especially since all the tornadoes on the Fujita Scale between 1950-2007 are officially rated.

7. Continue to work on creating tornado pages for earlier years.

In closing, I would like to thank User:Cyclonebiskit, User:Halls4521, User:CapeVerdeWave, User:Destroyeraa,User:TornadoLGS, User:TornadoInformation12,User:United States Man, User:Aaron08, User:Jrooster49, User:BrownHairedGirl, User:Hurricane Noah and the numerous other people that helped me become an established and helpful editor on Wikipedia, especially since I annoyed the heck out USMan early on. (and probably still do. LOL!) Without them, I wouldn't be the wonderful Wikipedia editor that I am. I wish to continue our relationships and be both helpful and considerate to the rest of the Wikipedia community. Thanks for reading! ChessEric (talk · contribs) 23:22, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
