'F/OSS' is an inclusive term generally synonymous with both free software and open source software which describe similar development models, but with differing cultures and philosophies. 'Free software' focuses on the philosophical freedoms it gives to users and 'open source' focuses on the perceived strengths of its peer-to-peer development model. However many people relate to both aspects and so 'F/OSS' is a term that can be used without particular bias towards either camp.

Python: Practical multi-paradigm programming language that is easy to learn and has a simple, clear syntax encouraging readable and maintainable code. Command line interpreter for instant feedback and experimentation, or full GUI applications can be created for all major platforms. Versions exist for .NET Framework (IronPython) and Java platform (Jython) too. Also suitable for server-side web programming. A large standard library provides simple access to tools for many tasks ("batteries included"). Interestingly there is an implementation of Python written using Python called PyPy which allows Python users to easily explore and hack Python itself.
