cerniagigante is Italian for giant grouper which is a very curious fish... so much so that curiousity leads it to death sometime, as its meat is delicious and some spear-fishers won't forgive.

my human me, in the very real life gets paid to do new Mathematics, specialized in Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computation and teach the known stuff.

my profession makes my wikipedian interests slant in the direction of Sciences, Linguistics and Psychology.

in spite of my exact scientific background, i do have a soft spot for the following "other" things: Nature, Animals and Plants, Politics, Outdoors, Travel and means of travel such as Cycling, Hiking, Climbing, Underwater Diving (though Scuba-certified and experienced, i have effected a return to Freediving which keeps the technical luggage to a minimum), Sailing, Boats and Trains (in a desperate attempt to keep my Carbon Footprint as low as possibly practical).

these topics bring me to browse (and sometime edit) pages regarding History, Geography, and Culture at large.

my friends (and foes) criticize me for being too opinionated.

after so many years being told off, i think they may have a point.

so if my contributions to Wikipedia sound too personal, do let me know.

i don't mean to upset anyone, but i feel that provocation is an effective way of making people discuss (and think) about what we take for granted.

if i'm left alone in a room for more than 20 minutes, i'll start a debate with myself on something.
