My name is Sunny Guo (Simplified Chinese:郭孜轶, Hanyu Pinyin: Guō Zī Yì, Wade-Giles: Kuo Tzu-i). I was born on July 6, 1991 at the Nan Kai District (南开区 Nánkāi Qū) "Yellow River Avenue Hospital" (黄河道医院, Huáng Hé Dà Yī Yuàn) in Tianjin, China. I grew up in an upper-middle class family: my mother was a computer engineer and my father was a production engineer. Most of my childhood years were spent in a tight-knit old Tiajin neighborhood consisting of 6 families. I moved to Hexi District (河西区 Héxī Qū) at the age of 6 and began pre-school at Zhong Shan Elementary School (中山小学, Zhōng Shān Xiăo Xué). I exceeded in every academic aspect and became the teachers' favorite and most trusted student. I continued to study at Zhong Shan Elementary School until I was sent to boarding school during grade 2 when my parents did not have enough time to care for me. When my grandfather took me home for the summer, after the completion of grade 2, I was confronted with the devastating news of immigrating to Canada. I was infuriated and confused; my parents were very successful in their career and I was doing just as well in school.
