Evaluate an article
Complete your article evaluation below. Here are the key aspects to consider: Lead sectionA good lead section defines the topic and provides a concise overview. A reader who just wants to identify the topic can read the first sentence. A reader who wants a very brief overview of the most important things about it can read the first paragraph. A reader who wants a quick overview can read the whole lead section.
ContentA good Wikipedia article should cover all the important aspects of a topic, without putting too much weight on one part while neglecting another.
Tone and BalanceWikipedia articles should be written from a neutral point of view; if there are substantial differences of interpretation or controversies among published, reliable sources, those views should be described as fairly as possible.
Sources and ReferencesA Wikipedia article should be based on the best sources available for the topic at hand. When possible, this means academic and peer-reviewed publications or scholarly books.

Which article are you evaluating?
editWhy you have chosen this article to evaluate?
editI chose this article because I wanted to learn more about one of the most impactful readings I've done for class. The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman struck me with its imagery and multi-leveled impact. The Yellow Wallpaper illustrates how the medical industry, diagnosis, and the power imbalance between men and women can be a destructive force. I wanted to learn more about how this piece of literature has been interpreted and how it has impacted other people as well as how it has impacted how men view women and their mental health.

editThe article's content was very helpful in expanding my view of The Yellow Wallpaper. It clearly explored the author and her connection to feminism and the medical industry. The tone of the article delivered the information in a factual and impactful way. The articles portrayal of the sequence of events that led to Gilman writing the article were thought-provoking in particular. The Yellow Wallpaper's portrayal of mental illness and the progression of erratic behavior feels as though someone lived it. Although Gilman's experiences in bed-rest were different and that The Yellow Wallpaper is an exaggeration, the personal connection the author has to her writing is felt from a readers point of view. When the article quoted sources, I tried clicking on the links and found them to be working and easy to navigate. Furthermore, the talk page for this article was very interesting. There were some notable discussions around some of the sources such as the Brown Dog Affair article; however, the majority of the talk page questions were asking about content and whether certain interpretations of moments in The Yellow Wallpaper had credible evidence backing them. One question asked if the scene when the husband unlocks his wife's door is a metaphorical rape of a woman. I hadn't thought about this when I read The Yellow Wallpaper and would be curious to read what backing there is behind this interpretation.
