Captain Jack McQuarrie

Captain Jack McQuarrie Olympia Musician in the Bands Captain Algebra, Ghost Sharks, and The Big Cheese. Born March 4th 1996 and has lived in Olympia, WA since birth.

Captain Algebra was founded by Captain Jack McQuarrie and Brodey Ristine in October 2012. They wrote many of the first songs that would be on the 2014 debut album entilted "Greatest Hits" in the early time of Captain Algebra as a two piece bass and drums duo. In February of 2013 they added Stuart Sorrell on guitar. They played their first show on April 13th of 2013 at the Matrix in Chehalis, WA. In June 2013 Stuart left the band and was replaced by Taylor Pfeil on Guitar. They came out with two albums in 2014 with this lineup; "Greatest Hits" and "White Whale" all on Rad Chobo Records. In August 2014 Captain Algebra played their last show with this lineup. Shortly after Duncan Dietz and Matt Elhers filled in on drum duties for the rest of 2014. Captain Algebra played September through December as a two piece bass and drum duo. Starting off 2015 Captain Algebra changed styles and lineups. Captain Jack on Guitar/Vox, Jeffrey Davis on Guitar/Vox, and Duncan Dietz on drums. They came out with the album "Surfs Up" which was recorded with Tyson Balzer. This lineup disbanded in the summer of 2015 right before Captain Algebra was scheduled for a U.S./Canada/Japan Tour. Last minute Austin Peterson and Craig Moore of Big Bad filled in on for the rhythm section for Captain Algebra. Captain Jack, Austin, and Craig did the Washington/Oregon/California part of the tour, hitting major cities such as Spokane, San Jose, San Diego, Fresno and other parts of the west coast in the last two weeks of July 2015. Due to lack of funds, that lineup was replaced by Tyson Balzer and Captain Jack to do the Canada/Washington leg of the tour in early August 2015. In the middle of August Brodey Ristine came back to Captain Algebra to tour Colorado as a two piece with Captain Jack. Captain Algebra played their last show on October 24th 2015 at Captain Jack Fest at Le Voyeur in Olympia. They played songs from every part of the Captain Algebra history. Starting off with Brodey on drums and Jack on bass. Then Jeffrey Davis(guitar/vox), Duncan Dietz(drums), Jack McQuarrie(guitar/vox), Craig Moore (Bass), and Reese Benincasa on Tambourine. Then they ended the set with Evan Bailey on Sax, Jeffrey Davis on guitar, Tyson Balzer on bass, Captain Jack on guitar, Duncan Dietz on drums, and Reese Benincasa on tambourine and Vox.
