Adoptee Tasks edit

In conjunction with the Adopt-a-User program, I think it's important to go beyond just answering questions but to give adoptees some simple tasks on some of the various aspects of Wikipedia. These simply teach adoptees how different and important aspects of Wikipedia work. Don't worry the required tasks are all very simple.

  • Editing Basics
  1. Wikimarkup 101 - Some basics on wikimarkup.
  • Recommended Tasks
  1. Improving an article - This task teaches adoptees how to add references to an article, so that it lives up to Wikipedia's verifiability guideline.
  2. Reverting a vandal - In this task, adoptees use recent changes to find vandalism. They then undo it, and warn the vandal using an appropriate warning template.
  3. Participating in an AfD - This task introduces adoptees to articles for deletion, and teaches them how to make their opinions in AfD debates count.
  4. Verify a Did You Know (DYK) hook - In this task you will read and learn the rules of the Did you Know program and verify a DYK hook.
  • Optional Tasks
  1. Prod, CSD, and AfD - In this task, adoptees learn the differences between proposed deletion, speedy deletion, and deletion debates.
  2. Participating in an RfA - Adoptees are introduced to the requests for adminship procedure, and are encouraged to give feedback to prospective candidates.
  • Graduation
If you have completed all of the recommended tasks, I would like to monitor your editing and continue to answer your questions for a minimum of one month. After that time you will be eligible for graduation and can receive your graduation userbox.
