The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs are a member of the Western Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League (NFL). Originally named the Dallas Texans, the club was founded by Lamar Hunt in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League. In 1963, the team moved to Kansas City, Missouri and were renamed the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Pro Bowl is the NFL's annual all-star game and features the season's best players determined by voting. The game was first played following the 1938 NFL season on January 15, 1939 and was known as the NFL All-Star Game from 1939 to 1942. From 1951 to 1970, the game was known as the Pro Bowl and all games were held at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. From 1960 to 1969, the AFL staged its own All-Star game. After the AFL–NFL merger in 1970, the game became known as the AFC–NFC Pro Bowl (or simply Pro Bowl) and featured players from the American Football Conference and National Football Conference.
