Gramoi was the name of a chief of the Osage Nation who lived from to 1817. French explorers who met him in Indian Territory translated his name as Clermont. Anglo Americans later rendered his name as Claremore. The present day city of Claremore, Oklahoma was named for him. He was also the namesake of Claremore Mound, a hill in Oklahoma where the Chief's village, Pasuga, was located.
