The R.B. Annis School of Engineering, established in 2017 as a result of a $5 million gift from the R.B. Annis Educational Foundation, [3] [4] is an engineering school within the University of Indianapolis. The school offers B.S. degrees in more than a half-dozen disciplines, including computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial and systems engineering, computer science, and general engineering.[2] The school currently only offers B.S. degrees, and so is not included in many college/school rankings, such as US News and World Report, whose list of the best engineering schools only includes programs granting doctoral degrees. [5] However, the school boasts a 96% job placement rate, [2] which is among the top 5 of any university or college in the U.S. [6] [7]

From 2017 to March 2021, the school was housed in Martin Hall on the University campus, however the school quickly outgrew this space. In March of 2021, renovations were finished on a new engineering building called R.B. Annis Hall. The new building added 65,000 sq. ft. of space to the University and is completely dedicated to engineering.[8] The new building is the result of a $25 million investment from the University. [9]

Departments

edit

The R.B. Annis School of Engineering does not have departments, choosing instead to have an interdisciplinary focus in its curriculum, this is best exemplified by its unique DesignSpine program. [2][10]
