Bivas Samanta is a renowned sitar player, hailing from a famous Family of musicians from Tamluk. Bivas is one of the few prodigies to have lived up to his initial promise. Born in a family with a deep rooted musical background. At the very tender age of five he was introduced to the Indian classical music- sitar by his father Mritunjoy Samanta. Since the year of 1985 he is taking talim under the Sitar Maestro Pandit Monilal Nag. For a sort period he also took talim from Pt.Indranil Bhattacharyya. Now he takes talim from Padmasree Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan. Bivas was award SANGEET TIRTHA by West Bengal Government. Bivas was award a Gold Medal in a competition organized by Ganguli Collage of Music.
