List of British engineers and their patents. This is a historical list of British engineers, and patentees, who do not yet have biographical articles.

  • Carlton or Carleton, Thomas William. Partner with John Charles Taite, trading as Taite and Carlton.[10]
  • Cowan, William, was born in Edinburgh in 1823 and died in Aberdeen on 10 March 1898. He was Locomotive Superintendent of the Great North of Scotland Railway from 1857 to 1883.[12]

  • Ruthven, Archibald St Clair. This may be Archibald St Clair Ruthven (1842-1925) or his son of the same name (1875-1951).[30]
  • Ruthven, John Folds (born 1820), was Locomotive Superintendent of the Great North of Scotland Railway from 1855 to 1857.[32]

  • Ruthven, Morris West (born 1812), son of John Ruthven (born 1783) and Mary West.[33]
