Gertrude "Trudy" Forte was a biochemist who made key contributions to the understanding and study of lipids and lipoproteins. She advanced electron microscopy techniques for studying the structure of lipoproteins. She used model systems

She was the first woman to serve as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Lipid Research, a position she held from 1999 to 2003.[1]
