Evaluating the Article violence against women


From this article I will be contributing the effect of violence on women and how it effects not only women but a generational impact. Women have always been abused, unappreciated, and looked down upon. We don't elect them for high power positions, and on top of that we abuse and rape them. As girls grow up and become women and he the endless cycle of abuse it creates, a sense of fear, no trust, and the inability to fully believe in our justice system when nobody believes them. Kofi Annan and US officials have enforced new laws but when report the men they are hardly believed and not treated like the victim. This article shows us the milestones and all laws that were enforced throughout our country history[1]. Explains to us the types of violence that happens against women is rape, marital rape, domestic violence, acid throwing, reproductive coercion, mob violence etc.

Long Term effects of Violence Against Women

Domestic violence, which is also known as intimate partner violence, is verbal, emotional, physical or sexual abuse of ones partner. This is one of the many ways violence against women occurs. Domestic violence can cause a lot of short and long-term problems with women. Some are physical injuries like cuts, bruises, bite marks, concussions, broken bones, knife wounds, miscarriages, joint damages and loss of hearing and vision[2]. Mental health problems can lead to depression, alcohol abuse, anxiety, personality disorders and PTSD[3].

Women who are abused physically, mentally and emotionally usually do not have control on there lives. Control as in there work lifestyle is a mess, half of women who experienced sexual assault either had to quit or were forced to leave their jobs in there first year of work. The income loss for these women is two hundred and fifty thousand dollars each[4]. The effects of violence against women is a serious issue and it impacts women a lot so it is very important we either help women in need or we have to hold men more accountable.


Violence Against Women


In our society today, violence against women has been going on for over many years. Some women feel that their rights are violated when coming encounter with jobs, dating, and/or when it comes to parenting.Dating is one big key factor in Violence Against women. Domestic Violence in Dating the opposite sex can cause some women to physically and mentally breakdown on themselves. Violence is one of the very common acts in the world of dating.[5] According to dosomething.org, In “85% of domestic violence relationships, the victims are women.” Another fact the website stated was that “¼ of women in the world will experience domestic violence and women at the age from 20-24 are at greater risk to be assaulted or beaten by their other[6].” Many Organizations and the Government have passed laws to prevent such Violence against women.

Health issue of violence against women

Violence against women can bring physical and mental health to the victims. women that have experienced violence have a higher chance to have physical and mental issue. For physical health issue, there are short-term (such as bleed or pain) and long-term (such as digestive or heart problem). 42% of women’s injuries is due to their partners physical and sexual violence and 38% of women’s death is due to murder by their intimate partners in the global[7]. Women that have experienced physically or sexually abuse have 50% more chance to have sexually transmitted disease. Mental illnesses caused by violence are most long-term, such as PTSD, depression and anxiety.[8] The probability of women that experienced partner violence have mental illnesses, such as depression and alcohol abuse, is doubled.[9]
