The Critical Terrorism Studies- review edit

The interdisciplinary study by psychologists and sociologists alike. Shows a broad overview of the field of thought, whether the focus on the causes is Realism, Objective World, Nihilism, or action and reaction. The page itself is very broad but still manages to give a proper detailed introduction into the field of thoughts. But at the same time fails to provide a necessary amount of links and resources in contrast with the amount of quotes and viable comprehensive topics and jargon. Not only that but many of the linked citations are to other Wikipedia articles and not on Primary sources, such as Pentagon or National Security studies published by the DOJ and American and European Psychology journals.

Things to add:

  • More citations
  • a few specific instances of terrorism contrasted with the broad studies and data

Artificial Intelligence edit

  • Is the disciplinary study of programming natural intelligence into a artificial source.  In recent times artificial intelligence has been loosely quipped as "whatever has not been done yet" because of the increasing rate of innovation, we are breaking borders into what was previously noted as AI territory thus pushing the expected bar of AI requirements higher. The article is very well written, the information and commentary is broad yet specific, interesting yet technically boring. The links are many, with sourcing to reputable tech companies, silicon valley data collections, and respected institutions. I would add more information on the the application of AI technology by Workday Inc. The structure is a bit loosey goosey though, the introduction jumps around considerably.

Things to add:

  • More data on current research precedents
  • article citations
  • more quotes with the AI's innovative engineers
  • Current spectrum of companies working on AI's

Sources:

  • Berlatsky, Noah. (2011). Artificial intelligence (Opposing viewpoints Artificial intelligence). Place of publication not identified: Greenhaven Press.

-Relevant analysis of AI accomplishments and where the revolution is going.

  • Österreichische Studiengesellschaft für Kybernetik. (1987). Applied Artificial Intelligence (Online).

-An archaic analysis of AI technology and where it has potential, not entirely accurate but an important contrast none the less.

- A relevant article by a reputable publication that chronicle the current progression in AI.

The Pitch:

-I have already discussed the potential change I would like to make to this article concerning the current progression of AI technology and the companies leading the charge. This topic is most applicable to my undergrad major (Engineering). Something I am very interested in and companies that I invest in (Workday). This topic would be a good excuse to learn more about something I should already know about.

Nihilism edit

Is that belief that "meaning" is an impossible objective meaning. Since all meaning is contrived loosely from subjective reasoning, meaning no meaning is objectively plausible. Most of what Nihilism entails is the postmodernist cynical belief that life is not worth living because a meaningful life is a social construct and therefore cannot be regarded as objectively meaningful. Many popular theorists who touched on Nihilism include: Friedrich Nietzche, Martin Heidregger, and  Soren Kierkegaard. Since Nihilism is a philosophical theory, there is no purely objective information, only the regurgitation of adopted ideas and principles. The article sourcing is quite in depth, from what I expected; mainly due to the very minimal representation Nihilism has in the conscious mainstream. For starters, there is great evidence that Nihilism has become a fore thought in human Subconscious, one that plays on your insecurities and is essentially rooted in human existence.

Things to add:

  • Application to millennial culture
  • Subconscious awareness
  • Effects of this worldview

Sources:

  • Georgios Karakasis. (2018). The Catechism of Destruction: Sergei Nechaev and the spirit of Nihilism. Icoana Credinței, 4(8), 103-114.

- A philosophical essay chronicling Sergei Nechaev observations of the unjust worlds predisposition to Nihilism.

  • D'Agostini, Franca. (2005). Nihilism in Italy. Philosophy Today, 49(4), 342-354.

-A article about the observations of Nihilism in Italian society.

-Christian Theory depicting the ongoing degradation of just world morals and growing evidence of Nihilism in the absence of moral fortitude.

The Pitch:

-I have always considered Psychology and Philosophy one of my main hobbies. Nihilism is a very overlooked part of the human condition, one many people preferably overlook- for the sake of their psyche. But is yet a much needed realization that we must acknowledge- if we do not recognize the evil inside we do not truly realize the true capabilities of our power (take a look at Nazi Germany) and inherent evil we have merely because of our ignorance. In summary I would very much like to delve deeper into the characteristics of the human condition juxtaposed to Nihilism.

Developmental Psychology edit

Developmental Psychology is the concentrated psychology of humans in contrast with their socio-economic, cognitive development, physiological development and moral development. There are many fields of thought in relation to Developmental Psychology, including Behavioral, Psychoanalytic, cognitive, etc. However holistically, most professionals pull from all fields of thought and recognize an eclectic approach. Similar to Nihilism anything that is not a pure science (of which psychology is not) not going to be objective in its reading, however the repetition of theories and well respected ideas, some of which have been proved widely accurate, do accurately portray Developmental Psych. The citations are well informing to many studies and medical journals. I would consider adding more in depth examples of Piagets and Eriksons stages of development.

Things to add:

  • More charts
  • Data produced by Erikson and Piaget
  • Modern Eclectic approaches

Sources:

  • Burman, E. (2017). Developmental Psychology. 450-472.

- A relevant book discussing the eclectic approaches to modern developmental psychology.

  • Weiner, I., Lerner, Richard M, Easterbrooks, M. Ann, & Mistry, Jayanthi. (2013). Developmental psychology (2nd ed., Handbook of psychology ; v. 6). Hoboken, N.J.: John Wiley & Sons.

- A multi-contributor textbook on the ongoing discovery and analysis of child psychology.

-A highly reputable medical journal that focuses on on-going child psychology research.

The Pitch:

- The more I researched about this the less I really wanted to do it. So, this one is not for me, plus the article is already pretty sound.

Riverside Military Academy (rough draft) edit

Military Structure edit

A.W. Van Hoose

Riverside Military Academy relies on a largely cadet run Corps of Cadets- that emphasizes the basic military battalion level structure.[1] Cadets receive simulated military rank and positions in accordance with that rank with the highest achievable rank of c[adet]/Colonel as Battalion Commander; the lowest being c[adet]/Private. Riverside maintains a simplified NCO structure at both Company and Battalion levels of operation with the Battalion Sergeant Major commanding over the Company level First Sergeants. [2] Riverside Military Academy maintains no direct connection with the United States Armed Forces, but rather chooses to emulate the structure to emulate disciplinary control.[3]

History edit

Riverside Military Academy was founded in 1907 by local Professors and Businessmen- Haywood Jefferson Pearce[4] and Azor Warner Van Hoose, Jr with the mission of preparing ethical young men for success in college and life. [5] Riverside officially opened its doors during the Fall of 1908, but would not gain prominence until 1913 when a young Professor from Stone Mountain, GA: Professor Edgar Dunlap "Sandy" Beaver (later General) became the Director of Riverside Military Academies' Academics and Military Department.[6] [7]

Awards edit

Riverside Military Academy won its seventh consecutive Atlanta Veterans day, Presidents' Trophy in 2016.[8]

The Riverside Military Academy Track & Field team was crowned 2018 GHSA state champions.[9]
