On Butlersports they released a page on the jump that Butler made when switching conferences. From 1946-1950 Butler was a member of the MAC conference, which is the conference that OU is currently in. Next they moved into the Indiana Collegiate Conference from 1950 to 1978. For the year of 78 and 79 they were independent and were not members of any conference. In 79-2012 They were members of the Horizon conference, formerly known as the Midwestern City Conference. They were in the Atlantic 10 for the 2012-2013 year, then in 2013 to currently they are members of the Big East Conference. Being a member of the Big East is great for the school because academically, athletically, and recruiting wise they will fit in great. Moving into a bigger conference like that will enhance the attractiveness of the school and make it a higher interest for incoming students. As a member of the Big East, Butler will be competing against Creighton, St Johns, Xavier, Villanova, Georgetown, Depaul, Providence, Marquette and Seton Hall. (Butler University, 2013) The softball team uses the Butler Softball Field as a home field which is a part of an athletic field complex which shares the Varsity football field, Men’s and Women’s soccer field, intramural fields and Men’s and Women’s outdoor tennis courts. The field features a bullpen, batting cages, brick dugouts, and spectator seating for around 500 people. The teams Head coach is Scott Hall who has been the head coach of the program since the 2010-2011 season. He took over the position after coaching softball at Pendleton Heights High School for ten years. In his first season with the school he set a new school record by recording 14 inner conference wins. The overall record that year was 32-24. Also, by finishing in second in the Horizon league tournament he helped set new records with four tournament game wins and tied the 2002 team for the best league finish. Scott has a total of 12 years of high school coaching and has a combined record of 285-87 (.793) He has been to four state finals and was named Indiana High School Softball Coach of the Year in 2005. Jenna Grim is the assistant softball coach and was named assistant coach in 2014. She was a professional softball player and an assistant with Northwestern University 2 years prior. Her Key responsibilities are to work with the teams pitching staff and Catchers. Jack Lewis is another assistant coach for the program and assumes the role of working with the outfield and batting. Jack brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the table and also has a background in teaching. Currently the team is 2-5 in conference and 14-18 overall. Their team batting average is currently sitting at .276 combined with 18 home runs. The team’s current lineup is K. Boros, C. Norwood, B. Sallee, A. Lach, A. Kotter, S. Gronowski, K. Ogden, R. Carter, S. Dixon, A. Hiner, C. Rupel, M. Leichty, K. Cahill, C. Martinsen, and K. Starwalt.
